3x Baldy and "uptempo mile"

March 7, 2017 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: mid 40s, hard rain at times, pretty cold

Comments:
AM Baldies - my first set since pre-SOB. Felt a little sore from the weekend, but otherwise fine. Drove to Fox Hollow and Amazon to launch from there.

REALLY focused on glute engagement on this:

- knees behind ("pull")
- pelvic "opening" as much as possible (moderate grades)
- foot push (but not very well)
- tall & forward

I thought I was running pretty good, so I was pretty dismayed to see the results. Ran down and tried the wooded single track. It's better, but there's still 3-4 major snags and an ass-load of mud. Simply unrunnable. Ran down the gravel road, the subsequent two.

Actually got a bit faster on those next two, but declined to do a fourth. Found a new secret trail descent, which was cool. But man, the trails are just slime and terrible footing, even in the N2s.

Got onto the road and ran uptempo back to the truck. While before it felt like work, to run 6:3x felt pretty darn effortless, with zero hard breathing.

Good run. Laps

10:40
10:31
10:34
final mile: 6:37

NO HRM. Lost both goddamn straps. -_-

Rest of the day, super-busy:
- errands (post office)
- coaching chats (one new client from the SLO area, an acquaintance of Thomas Reiss; Janet, pre-Chuckanut)
- writing (two deadlines)
- work (PT patient)
