Perpetua trails - Gwynn and Cummins Creek with CA

February 26, 2017 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: high 40s, windy and rainy

Comments:
Slept in a bit and actually did some work (with coffee and croissants) before going for this run. CA's been doing so much better lately that I figured she'd be OK to try this "short" 8ish mile trail run. So we drove to the Perpetua Visitor Center and launched uphill from there.

Really beautiful loop, but rough: not terribly muddy, but super-technical and, at the top-east end, snowy! Wound up in a bout 3-4" of slush!

CA did OK...for about 4K then began to have symptoms...just as we transitioned from long uphill climbing to a brief down. Then, once on the downs, it got worse and worse. It sucked. So disappointing, for two reasons:

1. It was a poor decision to suggest that length and route. Just too aggressive.
2. It seems that she might actually have some ball-in-socket hip instability: the ball gets out of place, pulling-straining on the obturator, which requires her to "pop her hips", which always relieves.

Ugh, sucks. We both got upset and it was a bit of a downer.

Rest of the day:
- back to the hotel to shower and check out
- to Overleaf to work
- drove home, so we could get (a rushed) weight session in.

Good weekend...but I hate when she's in pain, and I hate rushed, busy Sunday eve's!
