March 26, 2017 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: mid 70s, REALLY humid
Comments:
The idea today was to do a longer, faster run, and I was really excited for it...but the body wasn't having any of it. I drove to Long Beach, hoping to:
- run east into the wind, then finish with the wind (unlike the last two days)
- get good coffee afterward
Neither really happened: stupid Bank House is closed on Sundays(!), and I did not run fast.
I felt SUPER-stiff and tired leaving Long Beach, running along the railroad frontages. I gradually warmed up, but I never felt good: no energy, no leg pep. I stopped in the Courtyard hotel past downtown to deuce and get a drink and I was BAKING. HOT. From there, just over 5 miles in, I decided to turn back: no long run, and - as it turned out - no pace work.
I just ran, honed the stride a bit, and logged the miles. This has been a constant of the past 6 weeks: do the work, push the envelope a bit, but - at the slightest hint of over-doing, just accept it and back off. And that's worked really well. I've had a couple lackluster runs, but because I don't force it (or ignore), I bounce back in a day or two.

Finished drenched and hot in Long Beach, then drove back. On my way back, I went to "PJs" in downtown GPT, a coffee shop that looked like a shitty version of Peets...but it turned out to be really good! Got a couple coffees and headed back to the home.
Rest of the day: pretty boring:
- did a bunch of work in Gramps' room (with mom's hotspot)
- late-afternoon we went to Chandeleur for beers, then picked up some food to go (mediocre pizza, as it turned out)
Sort of a boring trip, but I'm glad I'm getting in some good mileage.
