Ohh another Marathon Monday. Got it in with the perfect weather, more like on Saturday than the heat on Sunday. I woke up earlier than everyone else, and met up with Thea and her parents outside to show them the spot. It was on pretty early, not many people were out in Kenmore yet, and they really wanted a good spot. Eitherway, it was pleasant to just be out there on the course. All of a sudden, it started to get crowded fast and there were fans all over the place cheering and wandering up the street. It was like a blink of an eye, and it was race time. The elites and wheelchairs came through, looking so smooth. Rupp looked awesome, and so did Hasay. It was also special to see Meb running by in his final Boston. Surely more runners came passing by. We were waiting for Dixon, who we knew was on pace and was up near the front. I saw someone fly by who looked really familiar. I just stared at him, trying to match the face, and as he ran by he turned around and looked at me again. It was Christian Thompson! He was way up front, like he should be. Too cool havnt seen him run in a long time. Really, shortly after David came flying by. His sister and her fiance were cheering with us and they spotted him. He smiled as he ran by, looking so smooth like he was out for a long run or something. Great pace real controlled and relaxed. Shortly after he passed, everyone expect for Meghan and I peeled off to meet him at the finish. I wanted to see some more packs come though, and just get that ambiance of the race. We didnt stick around too long. I ended up taking my stuff and walking all the way down to the finish with Meghan and Phil to see if we could find David. He looked good to go even after the race. They headed back to Cambridge, so Meghan and I had some time to waste and we went over to North End for lunch and coffee, just chilling out and relaxing. As it got closer for me to head back, we walked back to the finish line area to find Phil, but it was too crazy with runners still coming in, even around 5pm. I ended up bailing and walking all the way through Chinatown to get to the bus in time. Lots of walking and legs were fried at the end of the day. I cant complain since people put it on the pavement for that race and for the city. I was humbled yet again by the performances. I feel real fortunate to be able to see the race each year, especially when so many of my friends get to run in it. This weekend was a good one, seeing ppl I havnt seen in a while. Got to recall some good times, and set everything else that is going on in to perspective. And with that, we keep on running.
