Comments:
Bright and early for the 3200 at Cassel's. I felt ok, but did not have the race I was looking for. I got put in a heat where I was seeded third from last, and I had to make a decision at the beginning whether to hold on with the pack or try to run alone. The pack was moving too fast for me, but I knew that if I ran alone, I would not be able to keep my legs moving as fast as I wanted to. So I stayed with the pack, and they took me through the first mile in 5:20. I knew that I wasn't going to be able to keep that pace, and I did end up falling behind the pack about halfway through the race, positive splitting by 25 seconds. I still think if I hadn't gone with the pack, I would have run slower than I did. I prefer to run the 32 by going out slower and then speeding up on the second mile; this is how I've run my best races, but today's racing environment was just not conducive for that. I'm glad that I got another chance to race the 3200 though. It was fun going out to Cassel's. My calves, the right especially, are very very sore, but it shouldn't be a problem.
