two SUPER-easy laps at EB Park with the PHHS kids

July 7, 2017 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 80, but pretty nice

Comments:
Got to Bristow at 4:01. Four kids waiting, which was nice: Jaesa, Akane (the Japanese exchange student living with Jaesa, who also ran track), then Callan and Ethan.

Ethan & Callan led, going mercifully easy (for them, not me) on the 5K flat loop. Good random chats and fun to catch up.

However, I wanted to talk to Jaesa, since she was considering NOT going out for CC (due to the "situation" with their current coach, Beth). So on the start of the second lap, I held her (and Akane) back and we talked about it: what happened last fall (in short: she got nearly kicked off the team for no reason), and where she's at, now.

It's all really annoying. We really hoped we'd get the chance to coach CC, but this old coach got to keep the position. We heard, later than "first practice" starts on Monday, consisting of a 4-mile run then "20 minute of TIRE PUSHING". -_-

Good chat, solid run. Gosh, it's annoying, too, that NONE of the kids have been running. It's 7-7, WTF??

Post-run: set-up to grill, then Ethan and I did a "river path" in the Willamette, which was awesome.

Later, Kyler-Sam and Daelyn-Hunter showed (the latter pair didn't stay for eats), then we grilled out and hung out in the evening sun. CA showed up, fresh off a work trip, and the kids were pumped to see her.

Then we finally said goodbye to Akane, who's a super-nice, great (and quietly funny) kid. I thought it was really important we give her a send-off, so I'm glad it happened.

Post-fest: CA and I went to a new brew pub in P.Hill! Clutch!
