July 29, 2017 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: High 70s, sunny
Comments:
I have been resting all week and my back of my heel (by the insertion) still hurts slightly when I squeeze or rub it. Still, I decided to run, and I wore my brand new ASICS GT-2000 v5 shoes (silver-gray/pink & navy size 9) for the first time. I was in the the "orange" starting area but when I got there, the "yellows" (slightly slower corral), were already moved up, so I essentially started with the "yellows". It was soo crowded at the beginning, and the first mile was very slow. I had forgotten how terribly hilly this Bix 7 course was! The steep hill around mile 2.5 was so tough! I ended up finishing decently with a time of 53:23 (7:38 pace average).
I ran about a half mile warmup.
My Bix 7 mile splits were as follows (according to my Garmin which actually measured a total of 7.05, likely because of starting behind the starting line):
8:08, 6:50, 7:38, 7:33, 8:10, 8:03, 6:39,
and an extra 0:18.4 seconds for the 0.05 extra.
I ran a slow 2 mile cooldown (21:47).
I then hurried back to Breanne and Matt's home in Coal Valley to see them, Brynn and Bennett, and Heather and Chris Maieritsch and son Nathan. I got to visit a bit more with them before leaving around noon to head to Beloit, Wisconsin for Megan McDonald and Don Weinzierl's wedding!
