August 3, 2017 (Afternoon)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: HOT, HUMID, SMOKEY
Comments:
Was still quite tired, yet I knew I needed to work speed. This workout: jog 100, sprint 100, is now the new go-to for what I can do if I'm feeling too tired or haggard to do longer intervals.
This was a perfect day for it, too: super-hot, super-smokey. Sprinting 100m alone won't accumulate oxygen debt, or that much heat. Or so I thought.
To work on trunk and pelvis symmetry, I went clockwise AND sprinted the corners (and jogged the straights). Felt pretty OK, too, but dang, the heat and breathing got really tough!
No stats, just laps. They were tough enough, and my rests slow enough, that I was still >7min-mile average pace -- pretty mediocre. But the stride work was solid, with good focus on:
- Forward (hip loading!)
- Tall (arch)
- High knee drive
- Strong feet
Solid run, glad I did it.
PM: my brother Will was supposed to fly in tonight, but weather snafus in Denver canceled his flights, so he's coming tomorrow.
