Painfully slow 5x800m with CA

August 25, 2017 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Saw some AM clients, then CA came down and we worked out together on the track, the first in a lonnng time.

I'm officially done with my antibiotics. Definitely feeling better, but still not 100% across the board. On top of that...I'm still "unwinding" some major stride restriction, so my top end speed....sucks.

Today, it was 800m intervals, and I had the idea that we'd "alternate": one person runs, while the other jogs their cool-down. This would be inherently harder for CA, but she did only 4.

It was super-helpful because it kept us accountable for the best possible stride, knowing we'd be watched, throughout, but twice getting feedback.

My focus areas:

- pelvis LEFT
- tall & forward (the overall forward loading)
- opening the right side (butt back, pawback, strong foot)
- small and strong arms

All that...and fighting several months of restriction (seemingly) made things difficult. It wasn't hella smokey or hot, but...just sadly slow and tough splits.

CA looked great, super-good to see! And very little symptoms. Today we put in a full length insert into her right shoe to correct what's probably a long-standing (and ignored) leg length difference!

Splits:
2:42
2:40
2:37
2:38
2:38

Ugh. So annoying. But, CA said I looked good, and I felt efficient, albeit with difficulty.

Long cool-down, then home to pack up for Coos Bay!

Rest of the day:
- drove to Coos Bay, via the Umpqua (tons of smoke there)
- first beer at a brewpub in Reedsport
- to Sunset Bay SP! Really cool!
