July 12, 2017 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 40s -- 70, nice
Comments:
Good sleeping at the campground above Salt Lake. CA wanted to do a trail run (of about 6 miles) so I decided to pre-add on by running down the road from the camp to the TH.
It was a gradual, progressive, downhill, which was fine for warming up. Felt a little clunky but otherwise it was fine. Opened it up for a sub-6 mile by the end, pretty legit descending over the final 2 miles.
Waited a good 15min for CA to arrive, doing some strength, then off we went.
I felt quite sluggish by then (*see end of August log - DAIRY!) on a steep, tightly rugged trail that climbed nearly 2000 in a mile and a half! Legit. Mostly hiking on the way up to Blanche Lake a cool, rock-lined lake in the high country of the Wasatch. Hung out there in the sun for a while, then traipsed down.
Rest of the day:
- awesome breakfast in SLC
- drove west, all the way to Telluride by dinner time!
- Beer in Telluride, then we found a CG up the hill close to Ophir.
