Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Late night but up in time for the race. Its so convenient. I literally could warm up there from home. Ran up, registered, did a little more warm up, then drills. Timing was realy good not a lot of dilly dally. It wasnt that large of a race actually. I didnt know where to start at but I moved near the front. New course this year, loop around Town Commons then out through Amherst College and onto the trails. Went and did the meadow actually, then back into some trails and out onto the bike path, then up the hill to the finish the same way. Starting out, two guys went way ahead, then it was a smaller group where we separated real quick. Once we got onto the trails, I was inbetween two people and kinda on my own. Took it nice and easy in the trails since my main goal was to not bust my ankle. Then once we got onto flat I tried to pick it up a little bit more. Started out feeling great, but the last mile was a bit of a struggle, definitely slowed down a lot especially up the hill. It was tougher to keep pace since I was stranded. Pretty clear the time was slow so I made my way into the finish. Added a little bit of a cool down around AC but overall legs actually felt pretty trashed up. This was humbling after not running much lately.
Essentials: Stretch
I had plenty of time to stretch everything out and get my legs back. I figured I placed pretty high so I wanted to wait around for the awards. There were a bunch of musical acts and stuff leading up and they race people were kinda unorganized, so I was patient. Started to get tired there though. Eventually got to cool down back home and by then legs were locked up a little bit more.
