October 17, 2009 (Afternoon)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: high 50s, POURING RAIN
Comments:
Woke up today a little cranky and out of it. Didn't sleep well and my leg felt like SHIT, even overnight.
But today I FINALLY realized WTF was going on: Adherent Nerve Root. Leg pain WITHOUT back pain. This makes sense, considering (A) this came on during my taper (= less running, less stretching, = more tightness) AND I did those dumb 150s nearly all-out on Wednesday.
So, as opposed to the million press-ups, I did a bunch of nerve floss stretches in the AM in it felt better nearly immediately. So just before lunch, I bugged out early and went for a run.
It'd been pissing all AM (just like FRI...and THU), but had stopped when I left. I ran south from my hotel along this parkway, which was also along I405. About a mile in it began to mist again. Ran along this paved path, then turned west to follow a path that followed beside/beneath I90. The worst part of the run was running on an interstate I90 bridge and back.
On the way back I picked up this park trail, which was a sweet (but SOGGY) woodchip that lasted maybe 2 or 3K. About halfway through I heard a thundercrack and about 30s later: POURING RAIN. It was pretty awesome: I haven't run in pouring rain in a lonnng time, probably 2006 or 2007 with BOOTS up at Hoffman.
It stopped maybe a K from the hotel but I was SOAKED. Pretty sweet.
Showered and hauled back to class. Thought about doing something fun tonight, like go into Seattle, but I just DID NOT want to drive and dick around with traffic. Seattle traffic is AWFUL. So I went dt Bellevue -- but all it is is ritzy, high-end shit, so I went back to Whole Foods, grabbed a bunch of shit, and went back to my hotel.
