Exercise Type: Run
Weather: mid 50s, but sunny and "warm"!
Comments:
Got up early and out the door, packed up to go watch the [rescheduled, fire-delayed] McKenzie River Trail Run, which Mike was running. We also planned to camp up there - a long-awaited camp-and-fire outing.
Got there at 11, 3 hours after the start. Parking at the finish, we ran easy up-trail to watch the leaders come through. Times were a little slow this year (winner was 3:5x; the usual fast year is 3:30-high). It was awesome to see Mike come through in maybe 6th place, running 4:35, his 2nd-fastest time ever (and even faster than in 2009). Yassine ran, too, so it was fun to chat up with him, yet again, at the finish. "He's SO SOLID". Really fun, great guy.
Ran 3 miles out, then turned back, just after the top woman came by. Our pace matched hers, so that was perfect. Both CA and I felt pretty good...though I made the mistake of eating some dairy for breakfast (and was appropriately sluggish the first half).
Post-race: chatted with folks at the finish, then went to Belknap Hotsprings for "a soak" & shower, then to Deer Creek to camp! We had to go to a few sites to get enough wood for a fire, but I got us a good one going that night.
As happy hour, before dark, we set up chairs along the rushing upper McKenzie and had beers and chatted. CA and I talked about getting hitched; it was good to just "put it out there" and talk about things we need to work on. The table is set. :-)
Made the fire and dinner after dark, then hit the sack at 9ish in the van!
