Eagles Rest up/down with Jaesa, Maddy

November 22, 2017 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: mid 50s, nice

Comments:
BUSY day. Up fairly early to get ready for the run. I wanted to do a fun trail day with the kids, and thankfully we had a couple takers. But since it was just two girls (AND I had to give one a ride, and meet the other, halfway), I had CA come with me. This was a drag on our time, but important.

CA and I met Maddy at the HS, then drove up river to meet Jaesa, then we all packed into my truck for the drive up to the upper Eagles Rest TH (or, mid-Goodman).

Me, Maddy and Jaesa ran, while CA (still in her boot), hung back and cooked us breakfast!

EASY run up to Eagles Rest, including a fair bit of hiking. Summited in about 32 minutes or so. The girls LOVED IT -- reminds you that a lot of kids never do this sort of thing, and reinforced the value of these runs.

I was a little worried about the descent, but they NAILED it. They were FLYING! And with good form, too! Shit, I was pushing it a bit to keep up. I led the first kilo, then let Jaesa go. Maddy led the final K or so.

GOOD RUN. Had good "trail breakfast" (bacon & eggs) with the girls, then headed home.

GOOD outing for them. While I wish we'd had more kids present, this was a good thing.

Rest of the day:

- home to pack
- TOOK FOREVER, but we finally got out at like 3:30
- drove to Joseph, Oregon. The traffic was bad, so we drove up toward Bend, then due north to The Dalles.
- I did most of the driving, but was able to get some work done on I-84.
- got to the rental on the south end of Wallowa Lake at about 11:30. Courtney (CA's middle-older sis) and husband Bert were already there (sleeping).

Fasted day, after breakfast. Didn't feel very good, PM.
