December 31, 2017 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: cold, but dry
Comments:
Drove to the office, then ran from there. Super-quiet mid-morning on New Year's eve: through town, to Alton Baker, and through PRE.
Felt OK, but legs were HEAVY. It's a combo of:
- the track session on Friday...then not running at all Saturday
- 90-minute bike ride Saturday
- all the damn moving!
Felt stiff from hips to calves. Did some strides at the end, then wound up at the gym.
Good run for CA! 8+ miles is her longest in three months!
Post-run:
- weights
- back to the apt for more loading and packing (glad we didn't leave all that for Sunday!)
- beers at Coldfire. It was interesting: it was Jeff Hess' retirement party. He is-was the South Eugene HS cc and distance coach for forever (OK, early 2000s, but an "Axeman" since the late '70s). We chatted a bit and I said congrats. We didn't get along. Gosh, he's stubborn...and the injury and burnout....yeesh. It launched a good long convo with CA about coaching: how even if you fuck up the nuts and bolts, if you care about kids and don't "hurt" them (well, emotionally, I guess), it's still pretty good. He did well at that.
