January 16, 2018 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: mid 40s, nice
Comments:
Treated some folks in the AM, then did a fartlek tempo. Knowing what I need to work on -- THE HINGE -- I figured a high-rep tempo would be easier to stay focus and execute.
Jogged from the office to PRE, did a few strides, then got after it. Felt a little asthmatic-allergen'd, but no matter.
1-2-3-4-5-5-4-3-2-1 "on", with 1:00 jog rest. Wore my normal watch so I have next-to-no idea of my paces. Doesn't matter.
Ran the PRE loop, crossed Knickerbocker, and ran east into Glenwood on the first 5-minute, then back, via Fairmount.
MAJOR focus on THE HINGE: that "running through a 5'10" tunnel". MAJOR glute burn when I do that, and everything else is easier:
- knee drive
- pawback
- stride width
- whole foot strike
For the latter, I still focused on that, a lot, since it tends to mitigate any ankle soreness. It felt pretty good today.
It all was hard, but a good workout.
