February 18, 2018 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 30? Windy
Comments:
Slept pretty well, then up and had a good decaf, thanks to James. The three of us went for a run, around 9ish. I wasn't really up for it, but I knew I needed to move.
We drove from James' place downtown, about 2k north to Buffalo Park -- named because it's a flat prairie at the base of the foothills. Cool spot.
When we started...I simply could hardly move. I knew it'd be slow, but...I was running seriously 12-minute pace, on the flat. 50 yards into it, I told them to go, and I shuffled on my own.
This run is symbolic of what my running life (and, really, all of life) has been like, the past year or even more: periods of feeling good, but a lot of days (and weeks and months) of feeling SO low, SO tired, that I just can't move. It was all I could do to slowly bring it down to like 11-minute pace on the dead flat gravel trail. I wasn't terribly sore: very little quad, and a moderate amount of lower leg and ankle stiffnes, but positively NO energy.
I did one mile, then called it a day. Drove back to James' and got another decaf and a breakfast sandwich (on a terrible gluten-free bagel) on the way.
Rest of the day:
- James and Callie got back, and we cleaned, packed and went to breakfast
- the breakfast spot was too particular, so I got nothing, and ate leftover peanut butter and turkey
- we headed south. CA drove so I could get work done
- flew home, Mesa to Eugene. Late, but smooth flight
Good weekend, all things considered.
