Weather: 70's; Sunny
Comments:
Another very aggressive mile. I was seeded 12th out of the 12 in our heat but managed to pass a few people during the race. As a group of three, with Jacob and Corbin, GDS managed to really hold together for the first three laps, with splits of 72, 80, and 80 before we spread out in the last lap. This was a phenomenal experience; being able to go out there and represent yourself and your school in an event that you've trained for months is so satisfying. To see all the late-afternoon runs in January after rehearsal, waking at 6:00 am to ride the stationary bike at school because of back pain, running over spring break even when it didn't quite fit into the schedule, and not to mention the workouts during the season that pushed me physically and mentally. The ones during which I didn't know if I could finish. However, all it took was some patience and focus, a little bit of grit, and I was rewarded with results during late-season meets. This has been a formative season and year for me regarding running. I hope that I can translate this progress into cross country and beyond.
