KY - Raven Run with CA & Timbo

Comments:
Slept pretty good, but the east coast swing is always tough. Awoke right in time for breakfast in the B&B at 8AM (5AM PDT). This is a bonafide B&B in Wilmore, KY, only a few miles from CA's cousin's place, and all 8 of the burgeoning Cooper Clan (parents, and the 3 girls and parnters) were staying there. Outstanding service and a great breakfast, as they were accomodating to my bullshit diet. I had eggs, sausage and a gluten free waffle (with a boatload of PB, and some real maple syrup). Good stuff.

After breakfast, Callie and I drove to meet Tim[bo] Jenkins for a run. I was a little apprehensive about a trail run, knowing they'd want to run far and faster than I could. But it turned out well.

Raven Run is a nice wooded forest area along a couple creeks in central Kentucky. Tim took us on a flat, grassy one mile loop before we did a 5+ mile perimeter trail loop. It was all pretty nice.

I hung in there pretty good. At first, I was really dragging ass, and we had to fill in Tim on what was going on. I came around decent enough to keep up, and although my top-end speed and energy weren't great, it never dipped: no major drop-off or crash, which was nice. Ran over an hour for the first time since April 1st.

I stopped after that, and Tim and CA added on, while I rested at the car.

Good run. I didn't get to directly chat with Tim, whose birthday it was, but I had fun. It was a good sign to have that run go well.

Better yet, energy was solid the rest of the day:

* lunch at some place in the country, with CA's dad's BFF from high school and his wife
* back to nap at the B&B
* wedding ceremony in town (short and sweet)
* back to the B&B to watch the Belmont
* to the Cooper's for the wedding fest -- which was moderately fun
