Up and out of Canmore and back to the big city. Driving back to Calgary was interesting as the mountains disappeared and the prairie just popped back up. We went straight to the Olympic Center, which is mostly open to the public. Cool to see the bobsled course, and the Jamaican bobsled they actually used in the movie, which they filmed there! There was a trial run going on, but they were not going fast at all haha. The ski jumps are crazy steep to, but we couldnt get up to them on the top of the hill. It was super windy, and we made one last stop in the training center, which had about 5 ice rinks and and indoor bobsled start, in a giant refrigerated room. How Canadian... I am glad we got to stop there I was quite impressed. It took a while to get across town, get to the hotel, and then the metro (CTrain) station to go downtown! It wasnt really poppin for such a big city. Its just a flat out grid, easy to walk through. Hit to post lunch crowd, some business people but not as hectic as I would have expected. We went to MEC, then walked around the main drag/street walk. It was starting to feel a little toasty out. Ducked into the museum right before it closed I wish we went earlier, that place was so awesome. Next, hiked all the way up to the river and walked through the park as people were getting out of work. Everyone was walking or biking home over the bridges and on the bike path. It was really cool. What a life! It was just so beautiful out also, I bet people were enjoying it because its pretty fuckin cold in the winter. We had some more time to kill so we next hopped back on the train and headed up to the University and just walked through the quad. That place was huge, didnt even make it across half, but it counts another Canadian campus off the list. Starting to loose steam, so we decided just to head all the way back rather than wander around for dinner downtown. So weird that sun doesnt set until 10pm, felt way way more tired. Overall, I am a fan of Calgary. Its a sprawl but not a lot going on honestly, seemed pretty chill. Enough to entertain for an afternoon.
