Comments:
After a long day of cheering for such an amazing team, the gun went off at 5:10. I tried to ease into a nice pace, but Mark told me to get up so I started to accelerate. I crossed the mile marker at 6:00-ish, and kept moving, even through patches of really thick mud. I got to the two-mile marker at 11:37, according to runwashington.com splits, right after Anthony had told me to start picking people off as the final stretch approached. The last part of the race went by in a flash, and all I can remember is the feeling of absolute euphoria crossing the finish line. At the workout on Wednesday this week, Mike gave me some really sound advice; focus on form and being relaxed. During certain parts of the race, that helped me get through the sluggishness of mud and being in midseason. All in all, today was a success. We all did so well as a team and I can't wait to see how we progress in the coming weeks.
