Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Up early. It was cold today and the windchill was up. I had to bundle up to 3 layers. Not as many people came out. For the old XC crew, it was just me and Dan V. The smallest I have seen in a while. NBD I was there to get in a nice run even though it was probably really icy and muddy on the trails. Started out real easy and slow with the rest of the pack and took it careful up the Remington side trail. Once I got to sunset, turned on the pace and started to run a little more consistently. Passed a bunch of people and came down Remington strong. Into Stewart Park and it was thinning out. Wind was whipping off the lake that was probably the coldest park of the course. I was pretty spread out at that point so just kept with the pace. Coming off the golf course, the big pack that I passed cut the course and came out in from of me. I couldnt catch up to them since the trail in the Bird Sanctuary was basically crunchy mud and I didnt want to bail. Finished up fast once I got back onto the road but it wasnt enough. Finished way off my time and pretty slow for previous years.
Essentials: Stretch
Went straight to the bagels and donut and cider then lounged around a little. Felt tight but not necessarily from racing hard. It didnt take long to warm up once I finished. Probably will feel it later. It was cold out and didnt feel like I needed a cooldown at all since I didnt race that hard. 7 turkey trots in the book now. Wonder where everyone else was they lost the streak. Well good to know FLRC will keep on putting it on each year.
