January 19, 2019 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: high 40s, wet
Comments:
First good, flat long run in a long time.
I was sort of hoping to do this solo, but CA wanted to come along. After working on her for nearly a full hour this morning: mid and upper spine, nerves, neck - we finally got out for a run.
Ran from the office to PRE, then all the way into Springfield, to the base of 2nd Street Hill, then back.
Felt pretty good. The positives:
* ankles weren't too bad
* posture was good
* did a decent job with both pawback and full hip extension (without too much arch)
* good energy, even though I feel "out of shape"
less good:
* I think I had "dairy hangover crank" -- had a couple birthday cupcakes last night at Coldfire
* disjointed: lots of stops (including seeing and talking to Gary, the PHill head track coach, on the trail)
* CA had a lot of symptoms in the second half.
FYI - we're going to see a hip surgeon specialist in PDX on Tuesday. It's time. We've tried SO much shit for nearly the entire time I've known her. She has something mechanically off inside her hip, period. It sucks, but it just needs to be fixed. I hope he'll have the solution, even if it's surgery.
GOOD run for me, though. We rolled a bunch of 7:3x miles on rolling, soft terrain, and I felt good. L ankle was 100%; right was variably sore but minimal. And I think I was pretty dang efficient. Felt GOOD.
Rest of the day:
* worked on the yard, blowing the driveway
* good breakfast
* sort of a nap
PM was weird but fun:
* went to a lighting store
* went to a bowling alley and putt-putt course (which I hadn't been to since maybe 2012, with Britt). We golfed (I barely beat her, as we both golfed well), played pool, but didn't bowl
* randomly went to this cider house and decided to eat at this thai "food truck" inside. Ran into Cliff and his GF!...
* ...and wound up at his friend Dave's house!
Weird but fun night!
SHOES: wore a brand-new pair of Topo ultrafly's. A bit more substance than the flylite, but still roomy toe box, good ride, and low drop (4mm?)
