February 1, 2019 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: high 40s, dry, decent air
Comments:
So, we decided not to run Orcas. It just wasn't a good idea:
* CA had food poisoning and was legit sick until yesterday
* She's contemplating a potential hip surgery!
* "I'm stabilizing"...but running 32+ miles and 8400'?? No way
* on top of that, driving-ferrying 8hrs each direction??
So we didn't go.
Slept in a bit. I got up and worked my ankles, then headed to Inshape, intending to do my morning treadmill routine. But as I was driving down:
A. it was really nice out
B. it was supposed to piss later today
So I simply drove to my office, and went for a run.
Felt GOOD today, for some reason. Ran the usual, through town to PRE, then the trail (mostly) to I-5, then across to Fairmount.
Ran remarkably fast. I cannot tell you the last time a had a first-mile under 8! Again, I didn't push, but I was working a bit harder to simply be efficient:
* neutral posture
* pelvis posterior
* pawback
Must've done something right, because on this pretty slow loop:
7:19(!), 7:26, 7:18, 7:20, 7:02, 7:12, 6:51, 7:06
Got back to the office and tacked on a small bark loop to make it 8!
Felt pretty great. Ankle symptoms were minimal!
Rest of the day:
* home to work. Two big projects:
1. updating my running analysis template to revamp the "efficiency concepts" section
2. applying for this major manual therapy certficiation: it would require $1400, retaking a few con-ed classes ($4000, with travel?) and spending a week in Steamboat Springs, CO, for the review and two-day mega-exam. This CFMT cert is something I've wanted to do for a long time, and a spot just opened up. I put in my app today!
PM: beers at Highlands for OD's 65th birthday! (Ate super-dairy'd cake, which put me into a major fog!)
