2nd Widener, 1500

April 13, 2019 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Another hot humid day at Widener. Got good sleep this week and had a nice workout, so I was hoping to end the week with a good race too. Once we got on the track, I didn't feel amazing, but I just went to the back of the pack and held on. A year ago, or maybe even a few months ago, I wouldn't have trusted myself to go with the group if I wasn't feeling good. Now I feel like I have the confidence to run with other people even if I don't know how fast they can run. I know I'm in the best shape of my life, but mentally, that's been the biggest change for me so far this season. So we went out in about 73 I think, and that felt alright–I moved up on lap 3 because some guys I was with were fading, and I tried to work up to the other goats that were ahead. Also, I got shoved over by an Eastern kid, but I was physical back–if I hadn't been, I would've fallen over. I slowed down to let him go in front of me, but then I ended up passing him back within 200 meters. He then tried to pass me back, and stepped on my foot in the process and shoved me again. I just tried to get out of his way and run my race even though I was pretty annoyed. On lap four, I passed him back and kicked in well, probably closing in about 70. That's about what I closed in at 1st Widener, which means I ran the middle of the race better which I'm really happy about. Next time, I'll try to not get as separated from Nathan and co. Good races all around today, and I'm looking forward to the Passover 5k next Friday!
