ride to colonic appt, then west Eugene...then flatted!

March 14, 2019 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Bike

Comments:
Busy day: a lot of patients in the morning, then a few appointments in the afternoon. In between OD came by with two chainsaws and we worked on cleaning up the yard. We didn’t have any major tree losses, but we had SO many large (2-5”) branches break off and land on the hillside. We cut up these into firewood. That didn’t seem to bother my hip too much.

After that, it was so nice out that I decided I’d bike to my appointments, and blow the hour break between my “butt-washing” and Feldenkrais appointment with a full ride.

“Butt-washing” (colonic) was less miserable than the first one, but it still sucked. Laura is really nice, but it’s pretty dang uncomfortable, so I don’t think I’ll go again.

After the 4 mile ride to her house, I thought I’d tack on the flat west Eugene bike loop. Just as I was getting to the west side…I flatted. Shit. Thankfully I had all my repair gear (which I nearly always ride with), but unfortunately…I couldn’t get the tire to inflate. I’m not very good at flat repair, and it turns out that I’d put the tube in, crimped.

I texed CA and she came to get me and the bike, and bring me to my Feldenkrais appointment. Deborah worked on my ankles again, and did some stuff to my right hip: all good stuff.

After that? We got beers at Coldfire, then headed home to pack up and prepare for Chuckanut 50K in Bellingham.

In retrospect, it was a good day to go “easy”: about 30 total minutes of riding. Hip felt pretty good today, and I even entertained thoughts that I could some how gut out the race…
