EWEB tempo with CA - hip/groin flared-up

March 6, 2019 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: wet, crappy

Comments:
Hip wasn’t very good this morning, but it slowly came around. Mid-day, CA came by and we ran. The plan was to do a CA tempo along the river (all trails are still snowed in). My hip was so shitty in the first half-mile that I nearly turned around, but I kept going and it actually felt pretty decent.

Ran to EWEB, did strides, then did the Autzen-De Fazio loop. I led to make sure she didn’t go too fast. First mile was maybe 6:40, and unfortunately it didn’t get any faster. CA was having leg symptoms of her own, which kept her from speeding up at all.

My hip was no better. It gradually worsened, and by the time we stopped the tempo, near campus, and had to jog easy, it was pretty bad. For whatever reason, it was way worse running slowly.

I was hobbling on that cool-down: like 10:00 pace. It sucked. Finally, with a mile to go, I just stopped and walked. So frustrating. It was cold and shitty, so CA finished the run and came back to get me in the truck.

After a short break, I returned to work. The hip progressively worsened, and was painful to stand and walk on. By the end of the day, I could barely walk! After work, we went to Rite Aid and I bought crutches. WTF?
PM: on crutches, went to go see Randy at Max's. A few of his old-tyme exuberant fans were there, which made it fun.
