Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Woke up at 0430 -- after a SHITTY night's sleep thanks to some AWFUL snoring by the old guy in the bunk below. The hostel was FILLED with retiree-aged people...4 Asians, and one family of 5. WOW.

Hauled all the way back to Eureka. Steady rain that thankfully let up as I got into town. BUT it was replaced by a nasty south wind. Like 20mph+. I grabbed some breakfast then rolled to Ferndale. Suited up and I was off...

...'til I got 2 miles out of town. It was windy, cold, and it had started to mist. F THAT. So I pulled the plug and rode back. Hopped back into the car and drove up to Arcata to run in this sweet Redwood Park/Arcata Comm Forest.

While hilly, it was really cool: like something out of Jurassic Park or Jungle Book: huge trees everwhere, moss, trails and log bridges. All that was missing were swinging vines! :)

Looped around a whole mess of trails, then worked my way back. It might've been the apple fritters with breakfast, but I got nasty gut rot and had to drop a deuce midway, but otherwise a good run. Legs tired, but calves damn good for all the hills!

Hung out in Eureka and got a hotel room -- did NOT want to drive back to HI, then back AGAIN to try the ride tomorrow.

Went to Mad River brewery in (crappy!) Blue Lake, CA, then checked into the Rodeway Inn and CRASHED. Woke up, cruised around, and finally got some chow at this pizza spot. In bed by 10.
