Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
I tentatively planned to get up early today to run since it was so cool during the night, but I opened my eyes at 8:30 and decided my body was not going to move and went back to sleep. Instead ran at 4, basically the hottest time of the day. It wasn't as miserable as it's been though. Ran Van Ness to Mass to Western to River to Wisconsin home. Listened to a podcast which helped pass the time though I really don't like running with my phone. Had to race a bit to get home in time, and a homeless guy lunged towards me and screamed at me on Wisconsin, so that was fun. Good loop overall though, and longest run of the summer so far! Felt hard, but I'm really excited by my level of fitness. Every other summer I've followed the novice training schedule in an effort to preserve my shins which would have had me doing 20-25 minute runs this week. I'm not really officially following a training schedule at the moment and I definitely haven't been running enough, but I'm able to run almost 40 minutes! That makes me happy. Also, I didn't feel great today and thought I was going super slowly, and while this isn't fast, a few years ago when I felt like I was running this slowly it would have been a 12 minute mile pace. Pretty cool that even though running still feels pretty hard sometimes, my body is just better at it! Exciting times. :)
