2x Baldy + tempo mile

July 11, 2019 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: nearly 80, pretty hot

Comments:
Right after the gym, I drove to West Amazon and Fox Hollow.

I had a crazy idea of doing a Hardesty before going to my 4-day class in Portland, as it's nearly impossible to do any good training during these courses, and I've done no vertical since Hood.

But then I realized how dumb, and time consuming, doing Hardesty would be.

BUT then I thought, "How about a couple Baldies?"

So that's what I did.

Felt a little heavy and stiff on the 1+ mile warm-up, then got after it.

Felt pretty good! Emphasis on:

* hip hinge
* butt back and trunk forward (without "old man back")
* pelvis up and down
* feet (sort of)

Felt pretty strong! Downhills were surpringly good, too. Second set was HOT. Super-sweaty.

The tempo mile...was a good training stimulus! HEAVY legs.

Splits:

10:53-7:45
10:30-7:30

5:55

Very short cool-down, then several errands and home, to get ready for the PDX course.

Course: my LAST review course before the test (in 4 weeks, but review week is in 3 weeks!).

Decided to NOT spend $300 on a shitty hotel, so I drove the van and slept in the Residence Inn - Lake Oswego parking lot. It's dark, quiet and safe.

Solid first night of class.
