Exercise Type: Run

^Matt Simonson (7/28/19). Started from Matt's house, ran to Amelia Myre's and ran with her for a few miles around the Observatory on some trails. After some sprinkler time we headed back to Matt's and picked up the pace a bit on the way back. These runs with Matt have really been some of the most valuable of the summer for me–always seemingly on a scorching hot morning, where pace (intentionally, for one reason or another) goes down a bit in the middle, but then we just get excited about our conversation or something and start picking up the pace.
It reminds me of a few years ago when Leah Snider told me to make sure I wasn't letting my head down at the end of races... she told me to practice keeping good running posture at the end of my runs, especially the longer ones. I don't think I race with my head down much anymore, but these summer runs with Matt have definitely been great practice for keeping that good posture at the end of a longer than average run or even a race. Not to mention, running with Matt is always super fun, an adventure, but I also learn a lot from him every time we brave the heat.
This was a great week of training for me. Still on the lower end of my mileage spectrum for the summer, but I listened to my body early in the week and left the week feeling stronger than I started it. Will probably go to STA tomorrow one last time this summer. Three more weeks in the DMV, then one week on the Jersey Shore, then pre-Customs/Customs. That means T-5 weeks until the boys are back!
