October 1, 2019 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: foggy/overcast but 50s (then sun once we were done)
Comments:
Saw a 7AM client - a high school kid - then ran with CA from the office.
She had an idea to run uphill "sprints" at Hendricks -- a popular area for both HS, collegiate, and semi-pro runners in town. There's a pretty moderate, steady, 300m paved uphill with a slightly longer, graveled (and at times, steeper) descent that parallels: solid for loop repeats.
Ran mostly straight there, and did our first "sprint" rep up the steep hill (past Vin Linanna's [old?] house), to get to the base of the workout hill. Hard.
Today's focus for me:
* run with CA to keep both the effort moderate and the form really honed
* big hips
* forward (hip hinge, pelvis up) engagement
Felt pretty solid. Breathing was controlled for each one, as I mostly let CA have a half-step lead. After summitting, it was a short paved down before turning right onto the gravel, on which we pushed pretty hard: the longest hard/fast downhill I've done in a while.
Did x5 of the uphill reps
Ups (300m): ~80s +/-
Downs (450m? 500m?): 90s?
Felt decent.
On the way home: hamstrings felt SUPER tight, like legit hamstring overuse tension. Annoying.
Rest of the day:
* home in time for a quick breakfast
* 11-5 patients.
