Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
I've felt sick all week. I've tried to forget about it, but now after this race it's too blatantly obvious to ignore. I felt terrible on the shakeout but better on the warmup. In my mind, there was no question about not racing today. I really wanted to and I'm not sick enough to justify not racing.
Anyways, Will and I went out and ran a consistent race. The first two miles felt alright, the third felt terrible, the fourth felt a bit better and we surged, and then I just couldn't kick to close it out. On a better day, I might've had that kick (and a bit of a better 2nd and 3rd mile) and could've gone under 28. That's the goal for next time. In the meantime, running only a bit off of my Paul Short time on a course that was probably slower and while sick is pretty good. ALSO, this course was terrible. I hated it. I was always breathing in dust and the footing was really uneven and I probably rolled my ankle at least once every mile.
Jack and I tried to run a trail when we got back to campus to cap off the long day but my lungs were burning so I called the cooldown at 3 (including the mile we did at Rowan after the race). Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow, but I may take it pretty easy.
Splits: 5:38 (1 mile), 17:08 (3 mile), 28:22 (8k).
