Haverford Invite 4 mi

October 25, 2019 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
2.5 up
4 mi race (22:34)
3 down

Felt alright after shaking out in the morning. Wasn't too nervous, mostly just excited. Wanted to go out hard and work with Will/Steve and co. We went out hard, maybe a bit harder than I would've liked (aiming for 5:35ish, hit 5:27), but I used that strong first mile to motivate me to keep the pace up. I figured that this was a great opportunity for me to take a risk and push myself harder than maybe I have been. Granted, I did slow down (11:10, 16:55 through two and three miles), but I felt like I was constantly moving up and maintaining speed. I think this was a good race because I felt comfortable on our home course and just focused really a lot better than I have this season during races. I focused on each individual part of the race and not really on how much I had to go. And even though my races have been good so far this season, this feels like a breakthrough of sorts. Even PRed in the 3 mile by 11 seconds as I went through that point of the race.

Splits: 5:27, 5:43, 5:45, 5:39.
