Waldo Lake: easy, slow, short (and sore) North Waldo run

November 2, 2019 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 30-35, sunny, beautiful

Comments:
Woke up at 6:30, so got out and started a fire before sunrise, which was cool. Made tea, and - like the night before - sat around and read.

Left heel was really sore again this morning. I went back and forth over whether or not to run, but after sitting around and watching the sunrise on a beautiful morning over the lake...I just HAD to go.

I did a decent amount of stretching, packed up, and by around 9:30 got going.

Went super easy from the CG/Boat Launch, westbound on the loop. This is the coolest part of the entire Waldo Lake loop, as it runs pretty close to lake side, and through a 20+ year old burn area that's still pretty wide open. Great views, and nice trail.

I felt...OK. Pretty sluggish energy and the feet were stiff. Ran about a mile before I had to deuce, at which time I found a cool secondary trail loop ("Shoreline Trail") and ran that, which looped me about halfway back to the start.

Came back west again...and only made it about another mile before I decided to stop. The left heel was getting increasingly stiff and sore.

The good news: it's different. Rather than the pervaisive stiffness of the ankle (the MO of the past TWO goddamn fucking years), it's pinpoint on the bursa. I think it's just tight from running whole foot AND doing strength...and the bursa, in general, has a razor-thin margin of error, where if it's stiff AT ALL, it will hurt.

So I bagged it and ran back.

Right afterward: drove to the boat launch and jumped in! By then, it was sunny enough to not be insane, but the water was MAYBE 40F.

Rest of the day:
* drove downhill
* stopped at 58 Drive-In but coffee only (missed their great breafast by :45)
* drove home, ate breakfast, and lounged around a bit
* it warmed up by mid-afternoon, so I went for a bike ride...
