Bor Camp - Day 3 - morning up/down, East Side trails, one final up/down

November 6, 2019 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 70s, warm

Comments:
Another rough night of sleep. I started outside, but just couldn't get comfortable. At 3:30 it started to mist, so I went back in.

Busy day. Both Dave and I had to leave today, so it was abbreviated:

* same pre-dawn up-down
* same hustle back to teach my Injury Prevention class

Then, it was MY turn to give a group talk. This was a relatively new addition this year: mentors having 30-60min to present to the group.

My specific topic was "how trailrunning accelerates relationships and community". The original theme was going to be my friendship with BGD, but -- as I thought it through on Monday and Tuesday - it morphed into MY narrative on how running has impacted my life, both good and bad.

It was a good talk, and well received. A guy (Scott from "Becoming Ultra") recorded them for a podcast, and I hope to share it.

Post-talk:
* one final full group outing: this time we went to the East Side, which was much more rugged (and reminiscent of Camp Eagle). We had a GREAT mid-run chat that was initially about training strategies, but gradually morphed into expectations, postiive (and negative) self-talk, and how we can better support ourselves, let alone others.

We talked for about 45 minutes, nearly non-stop, with all the campers contributing. This doesn't always happen (and in the highly-structured years, this never had the time to happen), so it was a true gift to get that degree of open sharing.

After the long mid-run break, we ran straight back to camp, with more good mid-run chats.

Ankles were a little cranky by the end.

After that: lunch, clean-up, then one more SHORT run for me before I had to head back and pack up. But not before one more Blue Hole jump!

Rest of the day:
* cleaned up
* said goodbyes and had a roadie beer in the car with Dave!
* drove to the airport
* good chats with Dave. He's such a solid guy, with a really goofy sense of humor!

Travel:
* long but fine travel to SLC then home

GREAT CAMP!
