December 7, 2019 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Woke up again in a rough state of affairs. Once I *thought* I realized it was "the cream", I stopped taking it.
But today was still rough.
Woke up (didn't sleep well), then milled around a bit 'til CA went to my office: first to work on her, then to run.
Worked on her for a good hour, then she actually worked on me (doing mid-back work), which felt good.
But when it was time for the run, it sucked! Pain the whole time. I'm "used to" pretty significant pain in the first mile:
* first 1 minute ~ 5/10
* half-mile point, like 7/10
then it usually calms down:
* 1-3/10 (if lucky), or
* 5/10 ish
But today...I guess I'm just no longer tolerant of it, given that said tolerance is just keeping it going.
Ran the half-mile from the office to the front of SEHS and felt like crap, so we did the "South Block". By the time I got back to the office, I was just done.
Felt like shit.
I guess no more running for a while. I think the heel, itself, just needs a break. The compression and taping help, but there's just more "healing" / time required.
Rest of the day:
* grocery shopped
* home and cleaned
* went to pick up CA (who ran much longer, then lifted) - then went to Hideaway for "OML"
* home, where I did some work - including FINALLY finishing that damn article
The day flew by, but by the end I was feeling a lot better (>24 hrs since having T), so we went out for dinner.
Hit up Sabai, which - for being in the "snooty" north Eugene Oakway Center (where my old EPT clinic still is) - is not only excellent but great value. (Breakside IPA for $5!)
OF NOTE:
On my way, I saw an Ian Sharman tweet about one of 9 8-year WSER lotto entrants NOT being selected.
I commented (annoyed, of course, pointing out that the odds will nearly ALWAYS conclude that 100% of the top-tier WON'T be picked and thus go on to an "n+1"-th year).
And then the barrage of hate- and irrelevant personal attack tweets started:
* Monkey Boy (on how I "can't finish a qualifier)
* "WS Sweatpants" (also personal; turns out this was Carey)
* "Blowup Arch" (still don't know who this is)
This derailed my attention a bit at dinner. And once I got home, it was now clear that I couldn't withhold what I've been holding onto for TWO years:
my thesis on the fatal flaws of the compounding lottery, and my proposal to fix it.
We got home at maybe 9, and I went to work, writing Part I (the problem). It took 'til 11:30, but I got it done.
And thus begins a week of a lot of writing, anquish and stress!
