December 19, 2019 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: high teens sunny
Comments:
Slept only 4 hours but woke up feeling pretty good.
Did a gym strength plan for my mom and her friend Liza at 6AM, til 7. That went pretty well, but near the end, while demo'ing overhead press, I got a weird pain/stiffness in my upper back (that is either cervical or some upper rib issue). Nothing terrible.
After that, I sat at home with my mom, had tea, and chatted til the sun came up.
I wasn't sure if I'd run, but my ankle felt pretty good, and the weather was "perfect" for winter, so I went for it.
Per usual:
* first quarter mile was fine
* second sucked (really painful and stiff)
* then more or less fine
Ran the standard RF loop, but cut it short at Maple St, after a stop off at Max's office to say high.
In general, I felt GREAT! By the time I finished and got home, I was over 36 hours into a fast. I think that was a big part of it!
Rest of the day:
* grocery shopping with Will (+coffee)
* made meatballs for Steve's present
* hustled for a SECOND coffee on the way to meet my coaching client Michelle in MPLS
* then to Brandie's to drive to Eveleth
Unfortunately my ankle got progressively worse during the day. Unsure why, or what the mechanism was:
* could be the joint: it felt weird? Like sort of stiff but also not stiff? It certainly felt sore to stretch at times
* could be soft tissues: the plantar foot is feeling really sore, and both calves, in general
Frustrating.
Got to Eveleth by 8:30 and I was in bed by 9.
