December 20, 2019 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Walk
Weather: 20, breezy, overcast
Comments:
Slept in til nearly 8:30 (after waking at 5, itching my poison oak rash, a ton).
Hung out at the house for an hour, then went with Uncle Joe and his dogs for a walk: flat 0.75 miles on a deadend road, and back.
A little chilly (and I left my new puffy coat in the car at Brandie's), but good walk. Carried Josie on my shoulders for most of the return.
My left ankle sucked today. So it's definitive:
chronic high ankle sprain with varying degrees of "fixed instabiilty":
* it generally moves too much...
* ...but will "get stuck" (stiff" in an inefficient position
* movement (/too much impact) will cause pain, swelling and movement/re-fixation
That's what happened Wednesday and Thursday. It was OK, but the big descent was too much (even with taped and sleeved). It felt "weird' Wednesday night and wasn't painful Thursday AM (because it was re-fixated), but once I ran on it (fixated in an efficient alignment) it got pissy again:
* pain
* ROM loss
* weakness
This has basically been the story all year (but first with the right and now the left).
Sucks.
Gradually got better throughout the day, but still stiff/off.
Pretty fun day:
* brunch at Kunnari's in Virginia with the "Aurora Uhans"
* some errands in the area (including stopping off at our childhood house in Eveleth)
* back to the house to hang out
* dinner and beverages with the cousins and their kids
Good day.
