Comments:
Got to prep with 2 hours to spare before my race went off. Read a chapter of "Again to Carthage" and watched some outstanding performances by the bugs before I warmed up and got on the line for the 3200m. The first lap was kind of uninspiring, having started at the back of the pack. I worked my way up and kept hitting at or below 40. The end goal, I suppose, was to break 10:40. I got in front of some guy before setting my sights on a Marshall guy way ahead. There was some bold runner who no joke told me to "stay with him," and I instead got ahead of him. I tried to use Arjun's lapping me as motivation to stay in the game, and that's exactly what it did. I crossed the line in a time that I was not expecting. I split 5:18, 5:17. It was a huge improvement from this point last year when I was running about a minute slower for the 3200m. Anyway, certainly a redeeming performance after Episcopal and I look forward to next week.
