Exercise Type: Run
Weather: The great indoors
Comments:
Although it was a sunny day, I wanted to stay out of the wind for some quality running. I should also probably record more details from Monday's run, which embodied a dramatic running log anecdote if ever there was one. I was running The Loop, and on the East bank the wind was, as so often, blowing in my face. Nevertheless, I forged on because I knew, or thought I knew that I'd have a tailwind on the West bank, and was committed to avoiding an out and back. But when I crossed Falls Bridge, the gales continued to blow against me. At this point my hamstrings were hurting a bit, so I paused for some leg swings which usually helps. The wind kept up for the next couple of miles, so I sat down by the bike path demoralized, with my head in my hands for a good five minutes. Then in an atypical look towards professional athletes for inspiration, I actually thought how if Kobe Bryant had chosen running, he would have long gotten up and finished the run by now, and probably would never have sat down in the first place. So with that in mind, and the more materialist desire for dinner, I staggered home, although I did unusually walk up the Walnut street stairs. And for all the groveling the final time on the watch was not remarkably slower than average for The Loop, and even a little bit faster.
Today on the other hand, I ran 4xMile with about 2:30 rest in 5:46 (3x), 5:35ish. I had trouble getting my legs under me on the first one because I normally start these types of workouts at 6-flat, but it turned out fine!
