Anthony and I met up at the boundary stone adjacent to Park Road in Bethesda. He documented this and the other stones we encountered with doodles on Post-it notes. We jogged up Western, documenting another 3 (all on other people's property!), before locating the cornerstone in Silver Spring. We scurried through someone's backyard before getting emptied out onto Eastern, which we took through Brightwood. We figured we passed one of them, and continued for a while before turning onto Georgia and then 16th and then cutting through Rock Creek Park to get back home. We chatted about my goals for the season, Once a runner, running history, etc. Longer than I anticipated but still loads of fun. Here's a list of things I learned:
- Original boundary stones were placed every mile along the perimeter of DC
- Jason Campbell grew up close to the north portal boundary
- East-west street names on side of DC are named after flowers
and much, much more!!
