Run (/slight walk) McKenzie River Trail: RS to Buck Bridge

March 22, 2020 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 50s, but sunny/dry/warm!

Comments:
Callie wanted to long-run out of town. I didn't want her going alone (/on a trail that's remote/unknown) so we drove up the McKenzie. I dropped her off at Carmen Reservoir (20 miles from the ranger station), then I drove back.

I was feeling saucy today: and buoyed by the progress of my new (old) arm swing/hip swing stride. So I parked, suited up and went for a walk/run.

In the first mile or so I walked a fair amount, but the I started running. I ran the flats and walked most ups.

And I felt pretty good! Ankle wasn't bad at all. If anything, both hips (R SI joint, L lateral pelvis) were stiff from trying to move correctly.

Made it all the way to Buck Bridge in just over an hour (5.5 miles?). Once there, knowing Callie was going to run for 3+ hours, I actually sat on the bridge, shirt off, soaking up rays and doing massage and stretching to my ankle.

After 15min of that, I ran back. Since it's more downhill, I bet I ran 98% of that distance. Again...felt pretty good!

Did 11 miles (and ran probably 10!). Probably not a great decision, but "I needed it".

Rest of the day:
* patched the goddamn "holes" (gaping cracks) in the drywall and back wall behind the dryer and hot water heater. It was nearly a clusterfuck but by the time we were done, it looked pretty good!
* Had Kelly Powell- and Mike Smith over to the puuub
