Met up with Gaba at 11 at Duke Ellington only to find the track extremely crowded; luckily, my Dad was prepared to play the part of track police. Warmed up 2 miles, did drills, and then Ethan Wolin showed up before Berenson, Anthony, Simonson, and Abe Doroshow showed up at relatively the same time. Considering that Gaba, Wolin, and I were all looking for a PB in the 1600m, we started together, Simonson pacing Wolin. For those of you who are unaware of this track, it is open to the public but the issue is that it is only 320m. Anthony figured out a way of marking 400m splits ahead of time, so it was all fine.
I suppose we went out a bit fast, but we were somewhat off pace. We crossed 800m in 2:26 and then worked the penultimate 400m hard. Gaba and I traded places smartly the whole time. We both kicked hard and ended up at 4:52. (splits: 73, 2:26 high (73 high), 3:41 (74 high) 4:52.7 (71 high)). Wolin set a massive PR of 5:25 (a 28-second improvement since Cross Country!). This was a 5-second PR for me; I'll take that any day but I still look forward to bringing that down as we trudge through a sort of "Midseason." Cooled down 2 miles before leaving Abe and Matt to help pace Gaba for some 320m pickups.
