Comments:
Made an epic shortcut across Spring Valley and down thru Palisade and down a crazy trail to the CCT and eventually down the stairs to do some striders and get things going. Was supposed to do 8x400 (fast) with 400m rest, so I traded these for 0.25-mile repeats with 0.25-mile rest. Was not easy to hit the marks and the cooldowns ended up feeling quick. It was also kind of insane to visualize a straight quarter-mile; it's quicker than you think. Anyway, last 2 reps were especially tough but no impossible task. Splits were 74.4, 73.3, 75.8, 73.5, 73.5, 77.5, 74.5, and 74.9. Finished up with a jog home (all uphill, sadly) a little bit different than I had come.
