April 17, 2020 (Afternoon)
Exercise Type: Bike
Weather: 70s, nice
Comments:
Went out for an "urban" bike ride before the Taylors came for Puuub.
Good route, but a little harrowing: lots of traffic. We also had an incident:
At the corner of Crescent Ave and Coburg Rd in north Eugene - a busy intersection - we were stopped (eastbound) on Crescent and turning L in traffic to get (northbound) on Coburb. CA pushes her bike forward to get ready to go, then - with oncoming traffic cleared - she starts pedalling. I'm right behind her and do the same...
...but she gets like ZERO momentum: she started...then waw going like 3 mph! I DID get my momentum and starting pedal-mashing, only to realize she wasn't moving!
It happened way too fast: I basically ran into her back tire and tipped over right. I fell fairly hard on my right hand/wrist, and I guess I hit my head on the pavement.
Thankfully, that was it. No traffic was in the intersection. It was more embarassing than anything.
That said...my wrist got progressively more during the ride. But it's OK (no swelling).
Ride: pretty solid. I felt GOOD. CA did not. Turns out her seat was too high. Not only was she not getting good power, but her back got irritated, too.
Rest of the day:
* evening fire
* dinner and the Taylors visiting at "The Puuub"
Good day!
