Larison Rock hike

May 10, 2020 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Walk

Weather: 70s, nice

Comments:
Weird day.

Got up early, packed up, then drove north to check out "the snow" - where CLH is gated off. Sure enough, it went from dry to a lot of snow, in about a mile! Called the moms, then turned around and drove south.

Did a mini walk/hike at Salt Creek Falls. This place I've driven by probably a hundred times and we finally stopped. It's HUGE! And, you can basically fucking see it fromm 58, but we'd never been 'til now. It was closed to cars, so we walked about a half-mile in.

After that, we drove down to Oakridge. We were both really allergen'd for some reason. Decided to break fast at 58 Drive-In. The take-out version of their breakfast was a trifle of what (I remember it was). Blah.

After that...we hiked! Did another new thing: Larison Rock, a 4+ mile, 2500' climb -- like a Hardesty Lite.

Hiked the whole thing.

My thought this weekend was to "walk it out" -- to use walking to both loosen and effectively strengthen the ankle. Got in a big dose of that on this hike: just steep enough to be able to effective use my ankle, but not too much to over-strain.

Felt OK, but not great.

Cool hike and route! Like 10x nicer than Hardesty!

Rest of the day:
* CA ran 4 miles on the flat Salmon Creek trail in Oakridge while I washed the van
* jumped into Salmon Creek
* drove home
* cleaned
* worked a bit
* finale of season 6 of GoT.

ANKLE: It was seemingly fine...til I iced it and got off my feet. Then it *seemed* to get super-stiff...but when I worked it, it wasn't that bad. Huh... weird/frustrating.
