Weird day. We were considering going somewhere for the weekend, but:

A. CA had an MRI (shoulder) and PT (with Jeff, visit #2) scheduled at 7:30 and 11:15 this AM

B. I had two Running Analyses to do

Amazingly, I hammered out two complete Reports in just over three hours.

Then CA came home. The visit went better, but still not great. CA needs a more "gentle soul" for trying to get to the bottom of this six-year struggle. Jeff is not that...but he's the very best (maybe in a 200 mile radius) to the task.

Based on his recommendations, she can't bike or hike (let alone run). So it left us wondering if it was worth going anywhere.

So we didn't.

We also got into an argument about the treatment process. CA's upset. I get that. But I'm (perhaps excessively) pushing her to "accept" what needs to be done - even if it feels like acknowledging her weaknesses is "judgment".

It's a tough line to balance as a PT -- how to identify need areas without tearing someone down. Jeff & Callie are the worst combo for that:


* Jeff: like zero tact, or gentleness
* Calle: very sensitive (tough to initially accept critique)

But in the end, Jeff likely holds the key and Callie will need to "elevate" to the challenges he gives her.

But I do need to be more supportive.

After that:

Did some more work, cleaning, organizing and brunching. Then I finally got out for a ride.

Felt OK. I've been having an upset stomach and poor sleep:

* eating spicy foods
* eating late
* too many allegras (high grass pollen)

The latter is irritating my stomach, which makes the spicy and the late eating more problematic.

So pretty sluggish today.

And it was HOT! One of my hottest rides in a long time.

PM: it was a rough day - AND our "month-a-versary", so we endeavored to have some fun:

* drove to Pisgah and "swam" in the Coast Fork Willamette
* got anniversa-fritters at Voodoo
* beers at Tap & Growler (outdoors)

Good end to sort of a trying day.
