August 4, 2020 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 70, sunny, nice
Comments:
Got to Waldo area around 5ish. Had to drive up to the ski area to submit the iRF column I frantically finished, en route.
Nice crew of folks already at Charelton for Emily's arrival.
Emily, 2013 inductee into the Hunt (and, at this point, is a level II OG) is speed-covering the Oregon section of the PCT. She started Saturday and planned to stop for a "hunt social" at C-Lake tonight.
In attendance:
me, CA
Dan-o! (Level I OG, if not "zero"!)
Evan
CB
Daniel, Ashley and Miles (1 yo)
Andrew and Gracie
Sara (Emily's friend from Bend)
Jon
CA and I hauled all our shit to the lake - an annoyingly long way (that's JUST short enough to not be horrible for heavy things like full YETI coolers). After that, around "hunt time", she and I went for an easy run.
Tried to do the loop around the lake, but about a half-mile north (clockwise) around, there was too much blowdown, so we turned back and (rather than run the Waldo course) we ran north on the PCT.
Pretty boring section but it was different: douche-grade uphill for about a mile, crossing 4290 just like the race (but farther west).
We saw a car (Louisiana plates, so likely a rental) parked at the crossing. A quarter mile later, a couple in their 50s or 60s was setting up camp. Very friendly the man asked, "How far ya going?"
"About a quarter mile more, then we're turning back! See you in like 5 minutes!" I replied.
Ran out 'til the watch hit 2, stopped to pee, then turned back.
A few minutes later, we came upon their camp. The women - buck-ass naked (and massive - though not-too-saggy! - jugs, jugglin'!)! LOLZ! She sees us and goes into, like, "child's pose" to cover the mega-jugz as we go by.
CA must've said hi, and - without breaking stride - I added, "Have a good one!"
LOLZ! I've seen a lot of trail boobz the last couple years!
Good overall run. Ankle felt *pretty good*, though it felt weird at the end.
Rest of the night:
* amazing ("not cold') lake bath in Charelton w/CA
* assemble wood and start the campfire
* Emily came in: we had a beer cheers, then I did some PT work on her knees and hips
* dinner, beers and cheer (while CA gave Emily a leg massage!)
Fun night.
