August 2, 2020 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: mid 60s, nice
Comments:
Woke up today amazingly with no ankle pain, yet again. Forgoing a creek jump, we drove into town to secure pastries, then drove to the state park point.
CA was slated to run today...and I had this crazy idea to try to run again. But not before doing another round to self mobs. But rather than hammer nerve tension stretching, I worked on:
* cranial ("sphenobasilar") decompression
* C1 plus nerve tension
* coccyx (L lateral glide) + nerve tension
That did something...because I had a GREAT RUN!
No big warm-ups, no ankle stretching...just started running.
First mile was easy, down the road past the "bridesmaid house", then picked it up on the trail, past Adobe and the other hotels on the 809 trail. Saw (and high-fived) CA as she was returning. Ran to just before 1.5 miles out (before a crowd of people, and not wanting to mask-run), then turned back.
Had to add on a bit around the state park to get three.
Felt hard, but good!
Approx splits:
8:0x
7:3x
6:5x
And NO pain!
Rest of the day:
* brunch at Smelt Sands
* walked around the farmer's market (good mask usage)
* went down to the wedding site to eat pastries and coffee
After that, we drove south...but added:
* a nap at "Ponsier Wayside"
* afternoon beach swim!
I was pretty crisped with sunburn on my back, but other than that, it was fun. Almost idyllic! (Felt like a SoCal beach day!)
Then drove home.
Great trip!! ENCOURAGED by the ankle!
